Bergen Airport (BGO) at a glance

Bergen Airport, called Bergen lufthavn Flesland in Norwegian, is run by Avinor. The way into town is easy: the light rail, called Bybanen, runs from the lower terminal level to the center, the flight bus stops in front of the terminal, and taxis wait at a stand outside.

Most travelers take the light rail for the lowest fare, the flight bus for a stop at Bryggen, or a taxi when they carry a lot of luggage. If you plan a stay around the old wharf, read where to stay in Bergen first and pick the stop that is closest to your hotel.

Children and families

Children under 6 travel free. A traveler over 18 with a valid ticket can take up to 4 children aged 6 to 17 for free, every day of the year. Do not assume this applies to the flight bus or to private railways.

The Skyss app

Use the new Skyss app. The old Skyss Billett app is due to close in autumn 2026.

Flight bus

The flight bus stops in front of the terminal and in the center. It takes about 20 minutes to Bergen bus station and about 30 minutes to the center, rough guides for different stops. Check the fare when you board or in the app.

Taxi and transfer from Bergen Airport (BGO)

The stand is in front of the terminal.

Distance and time

The ride is about 16 km. It takes 18 to 30 minutes. Traffic and the exact address make the difference.

What it costs

One fixed-price example runs from NOK 580 to 890 in 2026. This is not an official tariff and not a price that every taxi applies, so ask for the price before you ride.

When a taxi makes sense

A taxi is the easiest choice with heavy luggage, with a small group that shares the fare, or when you arrive late. For a single traveler with a light bag, the light rail costs far less.

Car hire and parking at Bergen Airport

Rental desks and car parks at the terminal.

Car rental

Rental companies operate at the airport. Check the pickup point and the return rules in your booking, because they differ by company. Most visitors do not need a car for Bryggen and the center.

Airport parking

P1 is on the arrivals level. You can enter and leave within 7 minutes without a charge. After that it costs NOK 45 per started 20 minutes, NOK 135 per hour and NOK 585 per day from entry. P2 Premium costs NOK 475 per day, and the third level costs NOK 425 per day. A booking in advance can have other rates.

Payment fees

If you pay in the app, a fee of 15 percent applies, at least NOK 4.90. A web payment within 48 hours adds NOK 49, and an invoice adds NOK 59 plus an invoice fee of NOK 10. These are parking fees, not part of the light rail fare.

Parking in the center

Municipal spaces in the center cost money from 08:00 to 23:00, Monday to Saturday. Express spaces allow at most 1 hour at NOK 69 per hour, and spaces with a 2-hour limit cost NOK 34 or 52 per hour, depending on the street. Read the signs, and do not apply these rates to private car parks.
