Fløibanen at a glance

Fløibanen is the funicular that runs from Bergen up to Mount Fløyen. The ride takes about 6 minutes. It runs from 07:30 to 24:00 on weekdays and from 08:00 to 24:00 on weekends and public holidays, usually every 10 to 15 minutes.

You choose a date when you buy a ticket, not a departure. A ticket does not reserve a particular train, so you board the next one. Prices change with the season and with the sales channel, and the tables below show both.

Hours, frequency and the middle stations

When and how often the funicular runs.

Opening hours

Monday to Friday 07:30 to 24:00. Weekends and public holidays 08:00 to 24:00. Extra departures run when demand is high.

How often it runs

The usual gap is 10 to 15 minutes. Before 10:00 and after 19:00 it runs on the hour and half hour.

Middle stations

The middle stations are served on the hour and half hour. From 15 June to 31 August, between 09:00 and 15:00, they are served only on the hour.

Booking

You pick a date and no departure time. Prices depend on the sales channel: the digital or machine price is lower than the price at the ticket office in summer. Tickets do not guarantee a particular departure, so allow for a short wait at busy times.

Mount Fløyen: what to do at the top

At the top you find the Trollskogen forest next to the playground, and the paths through the playground are wide. That does not mean the whole walking area is step-free, so plan with a stroller or wheelchair in mind.

Kashmir goats live on Fløyen. Do not feed them. In winter they graze on Osterøy from about 20 November and return around Easter, so you cannot count on seeing them in the cold months.

The Vidden hiking route links Ulriken and Fløyen, and its Fløyen end lies at 320 m. It is a long mountain hike, not a stroll. See the page on Ulriken and the Vidden hike before you go.
